Famous Engineers

Bill Gates started off studying Math at Harvard, then switched to Computer Science / Applied Math. Computer Engineering is an emergent field of engineering that many people are going into and graduates of computer engineering are much needed. As you well know, studying computer science opens up a host of business and entrepreneurial opportunities, like it did for Bill Gates, who started his own software/hardware company: Microsoft. I’m sure you’ve heard of some crazy scientist receiving a Nobel prize, it’s a pretty big deal. This man started them. Alfred Nobel was the Swedish chemist and engineer who invented dynamite. Ironically, this engineer built a weapon of war, then built a prize (the Nobel Prize) to encourage peace around the world. Learn more about this famous chemist, engineer and inventor here.

The real-life Iron Man: Elon Musk is one of my idols. He’s a multi-billionaire entrepreneur and engineer who studied Physics at university. He started ZIp2 (internet company), PayPal, SpaceX, Tesla  (was a founder), SolarCity and is involved in OpenAI. His mission is only to strive for the betterment of humanity, and is widely accepted to be one of the greatest minds alive. He shows the world exactly what an engineer can do, as he guides humanity into the future. Learn more about Elon here.
